02 / Payment methods

Nexi presents the methods available for each checkout. Your merchant agreement and terminal configuration determine what can appear.
IRIS
Available when Nexi enables it for the terminal and checkout environment.
Apple Pay
Requires Nexi terminal availability and a compatible customer device and browser.
Google Pay
Requires Nexi terminal availability and a supported customer wallet environment.
Availability also depends on the environment, customer device and browser. Selecting a method in the extension does not enable it in Nexi.

Capture & refund guideCapture
Capture an authorized payment in full or in part, when the verified Nexi operation permits it.
Refund
Refund an eligible captured payment within the amount currently allowed by Nexi. Full and partial refunds are supported.
Reconcile
Retrieve the latest payment state on customer return, notification or administrator order review.
Actions follow the latest verified Nexi state, amount limits and administrator permissions, with protection against repeated operations.

Where does the customer enter payment details?
On the Nexi Hosted Payment Page. Card and wallet credentials are entered on and handled by Nexi; the extension sends order information and retrieves the resulting payment state.
Which payment methods can appear?
Cards and, when enabled by Nexi, IRIS, Apple Pay and Google Pay. Availability depends on the merchant agreement, terminal, TEST or LIVE environment, customer device and browser. Choosing a method in the extension does not activate it in Nexi.
How do installments work?
Card installments use configurable order-total tiers. The allowed installment quantities must remain within the merchant’s Nexi agreement.
What if the customer closes the payment page?
The extension can verify the transaction when a Nexi notification arrives or an administrator later opens the VirtueMart order. Payment status is retrieved from Nexi before the order is updated.
Can I capture or refund from VirtueMart?
Yes, when the verified Nexi operation exposes the corresponding action. Full or partial amounts must stay within the limits currently returned by Nexi. Available actions are shown with the VirtueMart order.
What does one license cover?
One Joomla installation. License management is configured once in the plugin’s global settings. The annual software license includes protected updates and product support while the entitlement is active. Nexi merchant fees and terminal activation are separate.
What happens when an annual license expires?
An already activated installation keeps processing payments. Updates and support end, and the license cannot be used for a new activation. Existing transaction verification, reconciliation, capture and refunds remain available. Local deactivation or a confirmed account disconnection stops new payments.
Are subscriptions and stored cards included?
Version 1.0.0 does not include stored cards, recurring payments or subscription billing. It supports Joomla 4 and 5 and Nexi XPay Greece; Joomla 6 and other Nexi regional contracts are outside this release’s scope.
